History

How did we start?

As with most great ideas, Go Native is a simple solution to a real problem, shared by many.

Guy Nixon spent much of the 1990s travelling on business. Trips could be for months at a time and while the hotels were good, he desired privacy and his own space. He wanted his own apartment; serviced and cleaned regularly with help at hand to answer domestic queries and help him feel more at home in his new local community.

In 1997, Guy decided to test his solution and placed an advert in the New York Times offering his apartment in London to business travellers while away on business himself. The response was overwhelming and a few months later Guy established Go Native.

So Why ‘Go Native’?

What Guy realised was that business travellers could be happier and more productive if they felt more at home. Staying in a hotel reinforces the sense of “visiting”, while having your own apartment makes you feel more of a resident ... a native even.

The New Oxford Shorter Dictionary defines the term Go Native as follows: “To adopt the way of life of the indigenous inhabitants of the country in which one lives”. As this summed up exactly what Guy wanted to help his clients do, the name was perfect. GN Property Services Ltd was just not an option.

Since 1998, the name Go Native has become synonymous with the team's professional, personable and accommodating approach; qualities which have found their way into every department of the growing and successful business.
